Igor Shpilband
Igor Shpilband has been Ice Dance Director at the Arctic Figure Skating Club based at the Arctic Edge Arena of Canton since September, 2003.
Igor's accomplishments include coaching 2010 Canadian National Ice Dance Champions, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, to their recent 2010 Olympic Ice Dance Gold Medal, as well as reigning US Figure Skating National Ice Dance Champions, Meryl Davis and Charlie White, to their achievement of the 2010 Olympic Ice Dance Silver Medal.
Since 1990 Igor has coached his skaters to many national and international titles. Igor coached the 2001 Jr. World Champions; 5-time US National Champions and Olympic and World Silver Medalists, Tanith Belbin and Benjamin Agosto; the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Canadian National Champions,Tessa Virtue & Scott Moir; the 2008 Silver and 2006 Jr. Ice DanceChampions, Meryl Davis & Charlie White; 1999 Junior World Ice Dance Champions, Jamie Silverstein and Justin Pekarek; 1998 Junior World Ice Dance Champions and 1988 Olympic team members, Jessica Joseph and Charlie Butler; and 5-time US Ice Dance Champions and 1994-1998 US Olympic and World team members, Elizabeth Punsalan and Jerod Swallow. The Professional Skating Association named Igor Shpilband Coach of the Year in 1999 and 2005. In 2005 he was also namedUS Figure Skating/PSA Paul McGrath Choreographer of the year.
